Ongoing Investigation into Hate Bias/Mischief Incident:

The Peterborough Police Service and Crime Stoppers are asking for the public’s help in an investigation after a pride flag flown outside a local elementary school was destroyed twice in two weeks.

Sometime between November 11 and November 13, 2017 the pride flag flown outside King George Public School at the corner of Armour Road and Hunter Street East was taken down and cut into several strips. The flag was replaced.

Between November 25 and November 27, 2017 the new pride flag was again taken down and cut into several strips.

The incidents were reported to police and are being actively investigated. The incidents have been classified as a hate/bias offence. A hate/bias offence is that which is committed against persons or property and are motivated by the victim’s race, sexual orientation, religion, national or ethnic origin or other factors.
