Suspicious Fire in Havelock

On August 9, 2020 at approximately 3:00am members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to attend a structure fire located at 20 William Street in the village of Havelock. The Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Fire Department advised that a residence is fully engulfed in flames and nearby residences are in danger of catching fire.

Officers attended the scene and were advised by firefighters that the fire is being investigated as an arson. The Office of the Fire Marshal was contacted and attended the scene. A second residence sustained minor damage and no injuries were reported.

Investigators are actively looking for information that may lead to a suspect(s) in this case. Police urge the public to call in tips on this case, or others, to the Peterborough County OPP at 705-742-0401, the non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122 or to Crime Stoppers.
