DOOR TO DOOR SCAM IN HAVELOCK

Clarification through investigation

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have received further clarification in regard to a perceived door-to-door scam in Havelock.

On September 12, 2023, the Peterborough County OPP received a call from the Community Development Coordinator at Community Care Havelock. Community Care has received multiple calls from members of the community concerned about door-to-door sales of raffle tickets in their name.

After further investigation, it was determined that there were two separate collections being made. A male and a female had been selling 50/50 raffle tickets for the Havelock Seniors Club. The Seniors Club was contacted and confirmed they had been selling raffle tickets but advised they were no longer going door-to-door.

It was further determined that separately, an older individual with a grey beard had been going door-to-door asking for contributions on behalf of Community Care Havelock. Community Care Havelock have confirmed that they have no known affiliation with this individual.
