The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is seeking the public’s help in identifying the individual or individuals responsible for shooting a deer during the closed season on Trent University property.
On the afternoon of February 3, 2017, a Conservation Officer from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s Peterborough office attended property owned by Trent University along the Trent Canal at Nassau Mills Road, between Armour Road and University Road, in the City of Peterborough. The officer located evidence that suggests a deer was shot and dragged to a location where it was loaded into a vehicle. Hunting is not permitted in the area where the deer was shot. In addition, the open season for deer closed on December 31, 2016.
The area where the evidence was found is known to be frequented by outdoor enthusiasts. The ministry is looking for information from anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed the activity or who has information regarding the individual or individuals who committed the violation.
