Grandparent Scam

Peterborough Police continue to receive calls from residents about the Grandparent scam.

In the past three days more than 70 calls have come into police from residents.  Many reporting they received the calls and in several cases, money was exchanged.  It’s estimated the residents were defrauded of about $30,000 in total.

Peterborough Police encourage residents to speak with their family members and networks about this scam and remind residents that if they receive a call to pause and check with their family members immediately.

Police or court officials will not come to your door to pick up money.
